Making a Life Changing Impact

Real People. Real Stories.

David Benhoff Lt. Col/USMC (Retired)

David Benhoff is a retired Marine Corps officer with over 25 years of extensive service, including three combat tours in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Panama.

He has a B.A. in history from Virginia Military Institute, a M.Ed. from Lynchburg College, and has published two books: Afghanistan: Alone and Unafraid and Among the People: US Marines in Iraq.

After retiring from the military in 2012, like so many other veterans it was time for him to discover his new life’s mission. Fate intervened and David found himself helping a Korean War veteran who was having difficulty navigating the VA system, managing his health care and some basic life needs. David read a job posting with a position dedicated to performing the same things for other aging veterans.

Through his personal and professional experience David was compelled to assist aging veterans who fought for our country and now need advocates themselves. This passion is what inspired him to participate and collaborate with co-founder Molly Brooks in forming Hero’s Bridge.

Since the organization’s inception, David has focused his experience, time, and resources on assisting fellow veterans and their families in the most difficult of circumstances. He was instrumental in identifying
and developing Hero’s Bridge core programs. His insight into the unique needs of our heroes is what compels everyone involved in our organization.

David’s mission to provide aging veterans companionship, resources, and assistance with a variety of needs has integrated itself into every facet of Hero’s Bridge and our mission.
